About Runtime Society

We believe every engineer deserves to laugh at the chaos instead of being crushed by it.

Software engineering is the only job where "it's broken" describes your code, your sprint estimate, your sleep schedule, and your will to survive one more standup — sometimes all before lunch.

Nobody outside the industry gets it. Your family thinks you "type stuff into a computer." Your PM thinks a two-day estimate can become two hours if you "just push a bit." The pager doesn't care that it's 3am and you were finally dreaming about something other than a stack trace.

That stress doesn't get a proper outlet. It doesn't come up at the dinner table. So it gets absorbed, bottled up, and rerouted into dark jokes in Slack threads, sarcastic code comments, and the group chat message that says everything a formal complaint never could.

Runtime Society™ exists to give that stress somewhere better to go.

Every design starts with something real — a specific, recognizable moment of engineering hell — and turns it into a punchline sharp enough that if you've lived it, you feel seen in about two seconds. Not generic "I love coffee and code" humor. The stuff that only makes sense if you've actually sat through the retro, actually said "it works on my machine," actually watched a ticket sit in "In Progress" for three sprints straight.

Wearing Runtime Society™ isn't just wearing a shirt. It's a small, wearable act of solidarity — proof you made it through another deploy, another standup, another 2am incident, and you've still got a sense of humor about it.

We're not here to sell you merch. We're here to hand you a release valve.
